Widow of the month:
WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH
1st Month: One means ‘One eternal, omnipotent God’; unity, beginning source, link between Heaven and earth, absolute, singleness, independent. Exodus 12:2 God put this month first after initiating Passover.
Appointed times: Passover , Waiving the Omer on the 2nd day of Passover, Unleavened Bread and Firstfruits. Celebrate Jesus as our Passover, delivering us from death, our First fruit
THEME: RESURRECTION LIFE! *Abib is a Hebrew term for the stage of growth of grain when the seeds have reached full size. The harvest was waived before the Lord (Lev 23:4-11). This month we pass over into a new land of promise. It is a time to guard our hearts so that we can inherit all that has been assigned to us. Elijah had pronounced judgment that it would not rain because of Israel’s sin. God sent Him to the Widow of Zarephath in the region of Sidon. Her grain was almost gone and she needed a miracle for her and her son. Elijah needed sustained to take on the false prophets and for Israel to align with the One God. The borders of Israel that had been compromised needed re-aligned by right agreements. This is a month beginning with miracles as we refuse fear and act on the Word. Obedience is a form of Praise for we are showing trust.
TRIBE: Judah (Praise). Judah was a warring tribe who knew how to operate with sound. Even in a time of peace it is important to discern your boundaries and be willing to war for what is rightfully yours in prayer. Praise is going above the problem and dealing with it from God’s point of view.
JUDAH’S ANOINTING TO TAP INTO: “They will be rulers” (Gen 49:8-12) Ruler:”To regulate and bring order and control”. A good ruler brings security and peace.
Leadership anointing, Judah led the tribes (Num 10:14) He went first and paved the way.
Kingly anointing (Job 29).Benevolence positioned Job as a chief and king. Governmental authority (1 Kings 18), Elijah and Obadiah walked this authority that brought life and breakthrough.
There is an anointing to press into praise. Judah’s name means “I will praise the Lord”(Gen 29:35). Praise is an attitude of the heart as well as a verbal expression. It is trusting even when everything seems impossible (1 Kings 17:15,16) making way for the possible.
HINDRANCES TO WATCH OUT FOR CONNECTED TO THIS TRIBE:
Judah forgot his promises. (Gen 38:11-13) Choose to believe the Word of God and His promises and act on them as the widow did! (1 Kings 17)
Judah failed to raise his children in God’s ways (Gen 38:1-10) But the widow brought the child to the man of God and he imparted life! (1 Kings 17:18-24)

PRAYER FOCUS: As you pray over your first fruits offering this month, wave your gift before the Lord declaring that the fullness of your harvest is secure and every seed sown will prosper. Use praise to expand your territory and keep your weapons sharp. War for your covenant promises, through releasing sounds of praise and worship.
STONE/COLOR: The green emerald has been chosen for this tribe’s stone. The value of the emerald is determined by the clarity of the stone and its color. The more “perfect” it is, the more valuable. The emerald is a symbol of immortality and life! Jesus was from the tribe of Judah and is our life! Life was released through Elijah to the widow’s son when he was raised from the dead. Green also speaks of provision and generosity which both the widow and the prophet needed. (Some authorities also consider the red garnet or blue topaz to be this tribes stones. “Garnet” comes from the Latin word meaning “grain” referring to the roundish shape of the crystals, tying the grains of First fruits and Passover with the stone.)
ACTS OF KINDNESS: The widow of Zarephath provided meals for the man of God. Throughout this month look for ways to provide food for another. Examples: pay for the meal / drink for the car behind you in the fast food line or for coffee; ask the Holy Spirit to point out someone in the restaurant and pay their ticket, without them knowing. Write on the ticket, “Just a blessing from Heaven”. Bake something for your pastor, Bible Study Leader or mentor and thank them for imparting to you. With each experience, pray for that individual and their family, releasing blessing! Strengthen their borders with your act of kindness. Share your experiences next month. Your group can also take on a project and feed the homeless at a rescue center or soup kitchen.
